[Solved] fvdw technical share with addons sub-folder

Re: fvdw technical share with addons sub-folder

Postby stamy » Wed Dec 23, 2015 10:12 am

The sdd8 has no filesystem on it as i didn't format it yet. I can do it right now if you wish. (I could use something like "mke2fs -t ext3 -j -m 1 /dev/sdd8")

I attached the screenshots.

Results:

Code: Select all
root@lacie-rei:/share # grep addonsvol /etc/nas_conf_db.xml
                <addonsvolume>1003</addonsvolume>

As you can see on the disk screenshot, the empty space size of the raid is smaller then the total size probably because there is a filesystem on it. (no data at all)
For sdd8 the size is the same, not smaller, probably because there is no filesystem on it...

What do you think ? should i format sdd8 ? (i have no data whatsoever on the nas so far)

Thank you.

I understand better your issue.

Currently, nas database set as addons volume VolD (1003). But it is not yet available (not formatted) so we can not switch it in the main setup : option disabled as the firmware finds only one volume available (I need to deepen this point because it should in this case auto-set the addons volume)

So can you post
Code: Select all
 grep vols -A 20 /etc/nas_conf_db.xml
for my understanding.

I think now you should format sdd8 with your command and restart the NAS.

Then select RD5-0 as addons volume and after you should be able to create fvdw on it.

As you can see on the disk screenshot, the empty space size of the raid is smaller then the total size probably because there is a filesystem on it. (no data at all)
This is the expected behaviour (this space is used by the file system).

Code: Select all
root@lacie-rei:/share # grep vols -A 20 /etc/nas_conf_db.xml
        <vols>
                <vol>
                        <volid>1003</volid>
                        <md>/dev/sdd8</md>
                        <fs>1003</fs>
                        <lastindex>1</lastindex>
                        <name>Vol-D</name>
                        <devices/>
                        <raidtype>single</raidtype>
                        <color>#e9f626</color>
                        <formatting>1</formatting>
                        <size>928.745795727</size>
                </vol>
                <vol>
                        <volid>1100</volid>
                        <md>/dev/md0</md>
                        <fs>1100</fs>
                        <lastindex>1</lastindex>
                        <name>RD5-0</name>
                        <devices>/dev/sda8 /dev/sdb8 /dev/sdc8 /dev/sde8 </devices>
                        <raidtype>raid5</raidtype>
--
        </vols>
        <rsyncd>
                <enable>false</enable>
                <modules>
                        <enable>false</enable>
                </modules>
        </rsyncd>
</nas_conf_db>

I will now format sdd8 and then restart the NAS.

I looked at the main setup menu and indeed the symlinks are not updated if they target a not available volume.

it was your case with Vol-D
Code: Select all
<formatting>1</formatting>
.

This will be fixed in the next release.

Now i have the choice to move the addons location to RD5-0. So i will do it, and then try to create the share fvdw.

While selecting RD5-0 as addons, should i check the box "move the tech share to the new volume" ? or not ? (i have a warning prompt if the box is checked)

No need to select the option "Move tech..." as vol-D is empty (just formatted).
