Any chance of upgrading the glibc from 2.3.6 to 2.4 in the next update of the firmware?
Needed for its inotify interfaces.

not in the next upgrade, all applications are compiled against 2.3.6 and then probably will need recompile
I already tried to compile glibC-2.16
It compiles but when running test it gives some errors
The intention is to do a major upgrade of glibc
In next release we will move for the Lacie kirkwood devices to Linux 3.9.5
