Lacie 5bign_v2 support

After that i need to make a new firmware image version 14-1 to add changes we made to get support for 5big2
That will not be ready tonight

So after this I will go to bed.
What you could do in the meantime is check what is present on the 3 disk with data
What I propose is to copy it to disk 1 or disk 2 (temporarily) present in the nas using usb->sata connector.
Then checking if the data is ok.
Then erase and format the disk for installtion in the 5big2. Then copy the backup data on disk 1 or 2 to this disk

However you mentioned you want to take out the disk and take it with you when traveling and use it in usb-sata interface to connect to your pc.
That will not be possible if we use ext3 format. A solution could be using fat32, but that will limit file size to max 4 GB

So please let us know your plans and desires for this to see what the best way is to proceed

ok, if i put all in "Public" folder.....???

i can connect with sata, one at one my 3 written HDD...and copy over ethernet all the file in Public? isn't it?
i think is more faster?

for the other....no, i LEAVE all disk in the NAS, if i must traverl i copy needed files from Nas to my External Airport 500Gb. don't warry, all the disk inside the Nas and Stop. :)

yes you can put in the share folder "public"

For the moment do not create new shared folders or users or change other settings of the nas because we are going to sent you a new default database which will overwrite all settings you would have made. But the share "public" will always be there

ok, thanks, i begin to connect ONE hdd over sata, and transfer ALL over Lacie folder public :) so, tomorrow i have one HDD empty :mrgreen: i will do the same with other 2 HDD tomorrow...is a long wait to copy :snicker

i have no enought space in public :scratch ....the lacie disk is 2tb ok....but i have maybe >3 TB files in the 3 HDDs.... :dry :dry :dry ....suckness....

:thinking this is funny.......yesterday night i leave One my Seagate "Transfer files" over Lacie, by ethernet (public). so i went to bed and so (i thought) this morning it maybe have finished the copy.

:dry they were transfer file at 10Mb/s.....neverending transfer was in act. i try to connect directly the Nas to pc in crossover....only 27Mb/s :shocked ??? it ask for OVER 10 ours transfer.... :shocked I had must stop them because I must went to Work.
at my work the lan speed arrive to 87Mb/s transfer......i see it every day....
so why so slow? all night have copied 5% of all Disk.... :mrgreen: i'll never complete the transfer in this way.... :sob any suggestions?

i bring the 2 disks at work and connect by sata in my Workstation (i try to install Ext2Fsd for transfer file from NTFS to EXT3) maybe is more faster.

important is the network speed setting
When you router doesn't support gigabilt then maxspeed will be 100 Mbit/s with is about 12 MByte/s. In realty you get only about 70-80 of this so 8 Mbyte/s
A gigabit Lan using the right router and cable can get in theory a factor 10 faster then this BUT the limitation will be the disk and the cpu/ram of the device used to drive the disk.
I expect that the 5big2 will not be faster then 40 MByte/s on a gigabit network
