This tool helped me out in the past, it lets you read/write on your NAS disk within the regular windows environment.
To be used when connected the hdd directly to your Windows system.

It's not free, at least not the full version.
But it sure works great, helped me retreive lots of foto's from an Raid1 diskset out an Synology NAS.(fried systemboard)
It's avaiable in x86 and x64.
