Try to Get a Disk Image of Drive of 2Big V2

It appears the box boots with the good static address. My router has no static IP and there is no conflict of this IP 192.168.1.84. I still do not see the MAC in my LAN client table.

The firmware ran the expected commands !(Ifconfig)
So you should bé able to get an access with the ip address 192.168.1.84.

Did you use fvdw-sl assistant ?

The fvdw-sl assistant can't find any. When I enter the IP address, just time out.

The front LED is solid blue. Back HD LEDs are both blue. Ethernet port is mostly dark though it still tries to connect from time to time. Just no success. I tried main router and the switch/hub. All the same.

:scratch :scratch :scratch

Currently I do not understand where is the issue ...
I go to write a small script to backup the dmesg contain so that we can examine it with fvdw-sl console
For me it is time to go to sleep. So next step tomorrow...
Other point did you try to unplug/plug again the network cable?

What I'm thinking is that, we set the static IP. But have you communicated from the router and get acknowledgement? Or is the network lease valid?

As to the router, switch/hub etc., there are currently a couple other NASs in the same network. I have a Zyxel wireless router. Then two split switch/hub out of this router. I do not have network issues with the entire setup.

I believe this box got connected to my network just once with rebuilt LaCie stock firmware. But it failed after the first boot. It just refuses to connect to the network.

I rebuilt the HD twice more. Each time with different standalone routers. All the same results. The builds are successful. But after it boots, it can't get IP from the DHCP. They are in 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.2.0 network.

I'm going to receive another 2Big Net v2 box. I'll try it also. With the way things go, I think it is software setup that we need to work on.

Thx for all the help.

Hi

What it is amazing it is our firmware version 18.3 is in use for a long time now without such an issue :scratch

Attached a tarball to run a script to get some more information after a regular booting; So put the archive in the folder tftp but do not uncompress it. Upload it (I assume you still have a telnet window opened
Code: Select all
busybox tftp -r  eth0-check.tgz -l /eth0-check.tgz -g  YOURIP
install the files
Code: Select all
mkdir /sda7
mount /dev/sda7 /sda7
mount /dev/sda5 /sda7/rw_fs
tar -xzf /eth0-check.tgz -C /sda7
check if all is ok
Code: Select all
umount /sda7/rw_fs
ls -l /sda7/iface_check.sh
mkdir /sda5
mount /dev/sda5 /sda5
ls -l /sda5/etc/cronbootscript.sh
these two files must be listed

Now reboot the nas, when boot sequence is complete leds should be off during 5'' around and when they are on again unplug/plug again the network cable. You have 10'' to make this action.

Stop the nas and get a telnet window via fvdw-sl console, after logging do
Code: Select all
mkdir /sda7
mount /dev/sda7 /sda7
cat /sda7/boot.log
cat /sda7/eth0.log
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

How to download the older versions that I can try? I get the 15-1 and it appears it requires disk partitioning etc. Not sure if that is the previous release before the current release.

Well, it appears the box functions since it can boot and can get into the telnet, though all through the fvdw-sl interface. My network works with all my other devices. But somehow the box can't connect to my network through fvdw-sl. It is also possible that the box ethernet may be faulty, but I have no way to test it.

I'll do the tests.

To do a manual install you have to follow the howto available for version 11 : viewtopic.php?f=7&t=336 but by following the latest instruction for partition table available in the last post of the topic.
Then you just need to replace the firmware image for version 11 by the one for version 15.1 and install also the related kernel image

This method can be use for version 16.x and 17.0 which are available in "Firmware and Howto guides downloads"
