Yes you can do that but I think it will not solve the issues, I am afraid your harddisk will go corrupt again.

so according to u what is the right choice to do now?
Are there any other operations to try?
do u think HD is "phisically " damaged or just could i save it formatting ?
If i have to change HD what is best way to adopt?

I would give it another try to get firmware running
If you can connect with ssh we can see why samba server is not starting en try to solve that. However if file system goes corrupt again preventing the firmware from running then it is quite sure that your harddisk is failing and chance is big that also your data might be corrupt as your harddisk seems to failing. Sometimes this kind of problems are caused by an unstable power supply. You could consider trying another power supply adapter.

Ps if you format the data partition of the hard disk al your data will be lost. So a no go for the moment I would say

I am travelling at the moment, so little time, for the moment do the following. Load standalone kernel and give command
Code: Select all
dmesg

And post output
After that run the e2fsck commands again for sda5 and sda7. And post output.

Re: Problem finding Nas after upgrading to new firmware vers

Postby fvdw » Mon Sep 19, 2022 6:49 pm

The dmesg output is ok , the output of e2fsck on sda5 and 7 not.
The errors I see may be caused by an un unstable power supply.
Before attempting any other action I advise you to replace the power supply of your nas.

We could repeat what we have done but with an unstable power supply we will get again and again disk errors.

What are specs of this DC power supply? i should try to find out dc power supply 12v 2A or more?
My power supply is diffficult to reach in forniture.....important should be olso polarity from connector.....(i mean something like - in the center and + in the external part....or the opposite)
tomorrow i will try to measure dc power with tester i ordered now....it could be also a way to understand if i need to change it?

Specs are on the power supply also polarity.
Only measure voltage without load is not enough, it must be measured under load for a period of time. A power supply with output of 12v 2A output is sufficient for your nas
