It is clear, I will try. Just a question : do you use ipkg install from a ipk or do you let the NAS download the package by itself ?

when you copy the content of the /opt folder and made the symlink then you will have a working ipkg install and when your nas has access to the internet it will download and install the packages you specify.
I let it download and install the packages itself

ps not to disencourage you but I have had bad experiencies with reliability of optware packages and do not recommend to use them, I avoid using them and only use the compiler to make my own binaries and packages. The gcc344 package seems to be ok.

ps gcc344 will not be able to compile a recent kernel, for that you will need gcc423 or so but that one will possible make not working binaries for other packages as it uses lbraries not compatible with some prsent in the firmware. Whole firmware is build with gcc344 (except the kernel).
Anyhow compiling a kernel for the nwsp2 that works with our firmware is a different story and needs pacthing of the standard kernel configs and setups to get for instance buttons, and back side usb port working.

I have news for you, i tries to compile simplexml as module and it went smooth, also it loads in php despite that it was compiled with disabled. during the configuring of simplexml as module it mentioned that it was supported as shared.

php526-extensions-module-simplexml.zip

In the php info output in the webinterrface it is now mentioned that simplexml is supported, see screen shot

I tested it with a simple test script and it seems to work :punk

Great job. Owncloud seems to work now. However, this is slow, probably due to small RAM size. I will evaluate it.

nice to hear there is progress, what type of NAS do you have ? (a nwsp2 should have sufficient memory 256 MB, a nwsp1 or spd8020 are indeed very limited with 16 MB)

then rethink the compiling on this NAS. It will take a long time to compile packages like php and it might fail because of lack of memory.

Despite this we are interested in this Owncloud application
