If you can see the partitions on your laptop I assume when running ubuntu then you can assemble the raid array as explained under ubuntu and get access to your data and make a backup.
After that you can install our firmware if you wish with the disk in the cloudbox and usinf fvdw-sl console. The console will detect your cloudbox when it is switched on. The bootloader of the nas will check the lan for a certain signal and interupt boot and enter a special mode. The console will send this signal and upload a kernel when the nas responds. This kernel runs fully in ram and activates a telnet server that can be contacted with a telnet client...etc etc Read help of the console
