Well the sata port is detected an driver loaded correctly
[ 5.282664] sata_mv sata_mv.0: version 1.28
[ 5.282714] sata_mv sata_mv.0: cannot get optional clkdev
[ 5.288154] sata_mv sata_mv.0: slots 32 ports 1
[ 5.294763] scsi0 : sata_mv
[ 5.298008] ata1: SATA max UDMA/133 irq 21

But the sata link remains down.
5.650426] ata1: SATA link down (SStatus 0 SControl F300)

So the disk control board doesn't seem to get it up. If the disk is ok then there are two possible reaons, your psu has a problem, not sufficient power to start the disk or the power circuit on mainboard of cloudbox has a defect. The disk needs a 12v and 5 volt supply. The 5 v is required to let control board of the disk function. The 12 v is used to let the disk spin. The 5 v is made by the mainboard from the 12 v coming from power supply. If that circuit us defect then it is end of the show.
But you could try another psu first or measure the voltage when the unit starts up and see if it keeps 12 v

Mmmm... Some progress

SRST failed (errno=-16)

Usually means a hard disk problem. (Google on this error)
The jumpers on your hard drive may have been set wrong (must be master)
Did you try another disk?

This is SATA, I dont think that I can configure it as Master or Slave. I am using now an 19V 4.74A PSU
I can only telnet the damn thing after 5 minutes, otherwise I got timeout errors.
I will try use a disk with xubuntu installed for the sda thing
It is the same disk that I have been using(now with xubuntu installed)
The first problem was the PSU, it didnt come with one, but hey, only 3 euros
BTW: am I using the correct file?
I select UIMAGE-3142-KIRKWOOD-158-standalone
can it be UIMAGE-466-KIRKWOOD-7
Witch does what? The documentation is poor in that aspect

about that error

19V 4.74A PSU

:shocked the voltage is too high, must be 12 V

Hopefully it did no damage your disk and cloudbox mainboard

And the kernel is ok an contains correct drivers, it works on many cloudbox's.

Yes the kirkwood standalone kernel is the one to be used
The standlone is for use when no firmware is installed on the disk, it runs fully in ram.
The other kirkwood is used for running the firmware. It requires disk with firmware installed.
For the moment we can only use the standalone kernel

I edited my previous post

different from the other one, took about 5 minutes until I could telnet the damn thing :hammerhead :hammerhead

This because it tries to start and initialize the disk with several retries, see dmesg output. As result telnet is activated much later then normal

This is SATA, I dont think that I can configure it as Master or Slave.

Correct, no master slave as we use sata, my mistake, overlooked that when doing some quick reading on internet

I give up of this thing.
Nothing works, no disk detected, nothing. fdisk -l
maybe the sata port is damaged or something else, nevertheless in Marvell console I can see the total size of the disk using internal commands. But I dont know what I am doing wrong and I am feed up with this.
I wanna thank you for all your help but I dont know what to do more, its better to give up than loose my nerves...
