Couldn't fix the problem, messed around with ownership etc in windows, nothing I did came trough (kept getting errors that I couldn't edit things). Solved it by deleting and creating the shares again. Thanks for all the help guys, I hope I won't be bothering you again :)

One thing I noticed trying to solve this problem: I think there is something wrong with the help page of "Disk Setup" tab "Setup". I see all this html-stuff (<�!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <�html lang="en-us"><�head> etc)

Hi Lariekoek,

About your first issue, maybe you got it because you stored some files by using different ways.

From a samba access, permissions are rightly set but not if you copied file from a shell session.

Your 2d issues means this help page file has a bad encoding. Please to note you do not have the issue with firefox (which detects the right encoding and ignores the declared encoding) but at least not with Chrome.
Sadly this file is not included in the rollup patch07. So install it does not fix the issue.

I will include it with the next rollup patch release (september or later if no new bugs is reported). Sorry but you need to wait but you can open the help page with firefox (which is much better than Chrome ;) )

I added the files using the windows explorer (network => see NAS as a pc, open it => see the shares, open the right share => prompts me to login, login using the full-access user account => copy files to the share). Is this Samba acces, right? I don't really know what you mean with "shell session".
It works perfectly when the files I copy aren't marked as read-only on the host computer. If they are, I somehow lose ownership over the files and can't edit them again...
But nevermind, the problem is solved:)

I also got the Twonky server running smoothly, working like a charm! Only thing is that it doesn't seem to load subtitles (.srt). I read that Twonky should be able to read srt files, but that it might take some time for the server to discover them during the first scan. But the server has been running for 12 hours now (52 movies, all with srt subs) and it's still not showing subs, is this normal?

I have tested it on my 2big2.
On the windows PC one file of 1 GB set to readonly, copy it via explorer to the nas (samba). Then trying to delete the file on the nas using windows explorer. Indeed you get the message that you are not authorized to delete it.
Than in windows explorer right click on the file on the nas and choose properties and uncheck readonly. Now I can delete it on the nas. Of course when the file is in a subfolder that is also set as readonly you need to uncheck readonly also for that subfolder.
Think is the behavior as it should be. So no bug.

Well, I wasn't able to uncheck readonly. It gave me an error that i'm not allowed to edit the file when I tried that. I'm sure there would be some weird workaround (typical windows) but I couldn't find it.

Also, the Twonky server is still not able to read the SRT subtitles :/ They all have the exact same name as the corresponding movie, but still not working. Any ideas or suggestions on this?

I am sorry but I do not have many suggestions.

What you can do :
- reset the media client list (setup pages > media sharing). Maybe your client is not rightly detected
- or try to change the media receiver type

Small remark, Twonky is not written by us but third party software. There is a user forum from Twonky, it could be worth a try to look if other user have this problem and if twonky engineers gave a solution (https://forum.twonky.com)

Hey Jocko, thanks for the tips.
Resetting the media client list didn't help, as does changing the receiver type.
Clients I tried are my phone (android), pc (chrome browser with VLC plugin) and Telenet Digibox (tv decoder in Belgium). All play movies perfectly, but without subs.
Found out the Telenet Digibox doesn't support subtitles over DLNA, so that's a bummer. But the other devices should be able to play them.
I also have a Chromecast but I have yet to try that one.

I installed Twonky 6 about an hour ago and so far it's the same result.

fvdw; I'm aware of that, but I thought you may had to tweak Twonky a bit to work with your firmware and maybe something went wrong there with integration of subtitles? Excuse me if I'm talking BS, don't know much on that topic :) I went through the Twonky forum and found some post about SRT problems, but none were answered/solved.

Hi Lariekoek, no problem to ask but my experience with twonky is limited therfor the suggestion of the twonky forum. The twonky server is only started by the firmware and it provides the possibility to set some basic settings via the fvdw-sl web interface. But the advanced settings like subtitles etc.. can be set via the web interface of the twonky server. The firmware provides a link to open the twonky web interface. But I guess you already found that out yourself. When I have some time I will gave a look to subtitles issue and see if we can help you to find a solution.
Ps in many cases the problem is on the client side not being fully dlna compliant or needing a specific setup in twonky
