fvdw wrote:Yes you must use gdisk on the linux command line, so via telnet client assuming you run our standalone kernel.

you should start gdisk like this (so without the -l option)

Code: Select all
gdisk /dev/sda

;)

Now you should be able to enter commands as explained

PS when you use the -l option it only list drive info, you can use that command later to check if you made the correct partition table

Thanks for the patience. That works a lot better. Now to my new problem. When I try to make partion 6 6690816 8787967 1024.0 MiB FD00 var its not possible. Is it because when I list my disk it says it only has 8089950 sectors? Can I do something about that?
Thanks

Oops, I overlooked that. 8089950 sectors of 512 bytes each is by far not equal 4 TB. Thats only about 4 GB. Thats also mentioned in your first post. I thought it was 4 TB.

How big was your disk ?

Anyhow it means the biggest part of the disk is not accessible and the drive data is incorrect because of the read error.

I do not know a way to test it further on the nas itself using our standalone kernel and tools.I am afraid this disk and your data is lost. But maybe you can connect it to another pc and use a disk test program of the manufacturer to a let it scan the disk to see whats wrong and if it can be repaired. You could try to investigate this option on the internet
