So it is on linux side the issue
this command
Code: Select all
/bin/adduser -D -H -h /share/1000/public/ -s /bin/nologin gast
which returns an error code.

So on a putty command try to do it manually and just after
Code: Select all
echo $?

Can you check also if there is a file /tmp/booting

So setup log contains no longer the trace for when you convert the data partition (never mind)

root@Lacie-NS2:/ # userdel gast
-sh: userdel: not found
You used a bad command the delete command is
Code: Select all
root@Acrab:/ # whereis deluser
deluser: /bin/deluser

Response on manual command is

adduser: group 'gast' in use

Hui .... I have a group ? Where does it come from ?

no /tmp/booting present, just

etc mnt usr
fvdw-sl_last_version.txt sess_b76c96d4c1b255e6ecd723f24b5fce67 var
jobtabedit sess_edbeba189b90f0b7df104c258337f2fd

root@Lacie-NS2:/bin # deluser gast
deluser: unknown user gast

"gast" seems to be a group not a user. On my NAS. So it's logical to deny a user name "gast".
But how to delete the group ?

post
Code: Select all
ls -l /etc/group

to remove the group gast, edit the file /rw_fs/etc/group and delete the related line for gast

root@Lacie-NS2:/etc # ls -l /etc/group
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 2017-06-10 19:34 /etc/group -> /rw_fs/tmp/etc/group
root@Lacie-NS2:/etc #

With command
"less /etc/group"
the user gast is shown.

I'll try to edit the file ....

oh man ....

I got it.
I edited the file /etc/groups and deleted gast:x:1003

Now I could suceed to create the user gast from the webinterface. The question remains why the user was not displayed by the webinterface.
A little bug in the interface or in my environment. I updated from earliest fvdw-sl firmware and maybe I carry old scrap with me ...

It works now and the data backup restores .... thanks for your help.
