The current issue is it is not the expected state on the manelppa NAS :scratch

well this is the disk map used in the kernel

static struct lacie_disk net2big_v2_disks[] = {
{
.host_no = 0,
.channel = 0,
.id = 0,
.letter = 'a',
},
{
.host_no = 1,
.channel = 0,
.id = 0,
.letter = 'b',
},
};

It means bus 0:0:0:0 gets sda assigned
bus 1:0:0:0 sdb

In the output posted from dmesg I see bus 1;0:0:0 and it gets sdb assigned, but I don't se bus 0:0:0

Code: Select all
[   26.379260] scsi 1:0:0:0: Direct-Access     ATA      WDC WD20EARX-00Z 80.0 PQ: 0 ANSI: 5
[   26.399343] fvdw1 disk index before get_sd_name = 1
[   26.404199] device-name= sata_mv
[   26.407413] fvdw2 disk index after get_sd_name = 1
[   26.419348] fvdw3 prefix[0]=s  prefix[1]=d
[   26.423437] fvdw4 diskname = sdb

If on this nas the sda connectors are swapped on the main board left slot can have become right side slot. Just try by inserting one disk in each slot and fire up standalone kernel

Dear Jocko,
2 disks are inserted. one in left slot (disk 1 originaly WD20EARX), the other in the right slot (disk II WD20EADS). This is only what I can confirm. two disks are IN

Then we still miss a part of dmesg output

On previous tests (yesterday), I think there is an issue on the sata port.

See some dmesg outputs but I thought it was on sdb so 1:0:0:0

Hi fvdw,
I think you are right about port swapped. When you said to turn off the NAS, insert a disk. You mean ONE by one and check the command with only 1 disk ? Could you precise your request, please?

Yesterday sdb was sdb even if there were errors
Code: Select all
[ 9471.019827] sd 1:0:0:0: [sdb]
[ 9471.022974] Result: hostbyte=0x00 driverbyte=0x08
[ 9471.027697] sd 1:0:0:0: [sdb]
[ 9471.030841] Sense Key : 0xb [current] [descriptor]
[ 9471.035713] Descriptor sense data with sense descriptors (in hex):
[ 9471.041886]         72 0b 00 00 00 00 00 0c 00 0a 80 00 00 00 00 00
[ 9471.048540]         00 22 50 a8
[ 9471.051855] sd 1:0:0:0: [sdb]

---edit---
But also today :scratch

Are you sure that you put the sane disk 'disk1' in the left slot and the new disk in the right slot? can you check again ?

I inserted only one disk to the left side and typed fdisk -l
Here is what I got :
Code: Select all

Disk /dev/mtdblock0: 0 MB, 512000 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 0 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

Disk /dev/mtdblock0 doesn't contain a valid partition table

Disk /dev/mtdblock1: 0 MB, 4096 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 0 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

Disk /dev/mtdblock1 doesn't contain a valid partition table

Disk /dev/sdb: 2000.3 GB, 2000398934016 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 243201 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

Dear Jocko,
I confirm (and checked twice). Disk 1 is LEFT, disk II is Right
