This result confirms the SDA is the new disk I put (model WD20EADS)
and the SDB is the WDC WD20EARX-00Z

I strongly confirm the disk at the left side (supposed to be the disk 1) is the disk WDC WD20EARX-00Z (the original disk you asked me to not touch)
The disk at the Right side (supposed to be the disk 2) is the disk WDC WD20EADS

Code: Select all
root@fvdw-sta-kirkwood:/ # cat /sys/block/sda/device/model
WDC WD20EADS-42R
root@fvdw-sta-kirkwood:/ # cat /sys/block/sdb/device/model
WDC WD20EARX-00Z

Indeed it is not the expected state. :scratch

On dmesg output a part is missing (about sda), can you post the beginning (so before 25'')

Hello Jocko,
beware : SDA is pointing to the new Disk II which has been totaly emptied and repartitionned with the following files :

mbr+label.gz => sdb1 & 5
sda6.gz => sdb 6
sda7.tgz => sdb7
sda8.tgz => sdb8

Be aware that lacie firmware doesn't use a diskmap as fvdw-sl kernels. That means that in lacie firmware the most left disk seen from the backside of the nas will be sda if the second is not inserted and will be sdb if the second is inserted.

This will not be the case when using our firmware or standalone kernel. Our kernels assign the name to a bus number = slot. So most left disk will always be sda regardless if a second this is inserterted or not

Ok, it's clear for me. Sorry if I feel confused, but you know the idea to have lost all those data makes me mad. So, once again, sorry for my lack of knowledge on your console.
Did you get the last dump from dmesg ?

no problem ;)
Is this output of dmesg is this with one disk inserted and what is slot were the disk is inserted (seen from the back side of the nas)

With the output after 25 it seems only 1 disk is installed when you gave the dmesg command , correct ?
