can't delete files

Postby kicsrules » Sat Jan 14, 2017 10:26 pm

i'm trying to delete file/folder but i get permission denied, i lost my ssh password so can't access that way, only ftp and normal samba share.... says that user/nobody only has access

it is in a .sync folder (hidden) probably from rsync :/

anyway to change permissions on those files ?

Hi kicsrules,

Anyhow, you can directly restore permissions from the web-interface ;) :
- load the backup menu
- select the (sub)folder where you have issue on the field "Selected Destination Folder"
- click on "Restore permissions on the selected folder"

That all...
Then you should be able to delete the files via ftp or samba

well, it didn't work, selected (on the right side) the folder that had problems, click on restore permissions and nothing happened....

edit: clicked accept and everything got erased on that folder.... :/
now its a backup of the drive in that folder, good thing that was a backup only...

Of course if you backup an empty folder then destination will be empty!

Indeed the feature is broken on version 16.1, so you have to upgrade again the firmware as fvdw wrote

I hope you applied your command only on subfolder in /share (like /share/1000/xxxx)
On the firmware side some files or folders must keep special permissions (otherwise some daemons won't start later (eg when you reboot the NAS)
