:dry

So you have some issues on sda5 (which contains the NAS database) and sda7 (the firmware)
Code: Select all
[   13.850333] EXT4-fs (sda7): warning: mounting fs with errors, running e2fsck is recommended
[   13.892383] EXT4-fs (sda7): re-mounted. Opts: (null)

[   14.852483] EXT4-fs warning (device sda5): ext4_clear_journal_err:4450: Filesystem error recorded from previous mount: IO failure
[   14.864135] EXT4-fs warning (device sda5): ext4_clear_journal_err:4451: Marking fs in need of filesystem check.
[   14.932565] EXT4-fs (sda5): warning: mounting fs with errors, running e2fsck is recommended
[   14.972683] EXT4-fs (sda5): recovery complete
[   15.002352] EXT4-fs (sda5): mounted filesystem with ordered data mode. Opts: (null)
...
[  313.862320] EXT4-fs (sda7): error count since last fsck: 12
[  313.867888] EXT4-fs (sda7): initial error at time 1481940460: ext4_journal_check_start:56
[  313.876058] EXT4-fs (sda7): last error at time 1482072625: ext4_journal_check_start:56
[  315.142321] EXT4-fs (sda5): error count since last fsck: 24
[  315.147875] EXT4-fs (sda5): initial error at time 1481982944: ext4_journal_check_start:56
[  315.156038] EXT4-fs (sda5): last error at time 1482074341: ext4_journal_check_start:56

As these partitions are mounted and used by fvdw-sl you can not make fsck via ssh access. You will need to use fvdw-sl console.

But even if you may repair fs on these partitions, that would also mean you have a pre-fail disk.

Can you post a screen capture of the SMART menu (view attributes status)

I know I had some bad block on the drive... Is it possible that something when wrong with the firmware or it's pointing more toward a bad drive?

Now I'm copying some files but I got a backup of all the stuff other than some things related to this nas wich aren't important (ie: a test Wordpress website)

edit: I note that when I put this drive on another NAS (2-3 weeks ago) unit it does had SMART error on some bad blocks....

Anyhow use fvdw-sl console and on a telnet window do
Code: Select all
fsck -y /dev/sda7
fsck -y /dev/sda5

After rebooting check if this attribute value has changed.

Yeah I know it's funny how my AS3102T NAS report this hard drive' as a failure (I was surprised) and the smart information on NS2 reports it as OK....

anyway , I'm copying some files right now , mostly movies , remaining time approx is 1H30 min so I'll reboot after this just to be sure I don't lose it again ;)

I will run a fsck for sure after I finish copying some file and let you know. Thanks again jocko!. ;)

BTW where are you and what time is it where you live?

I am in Montreal Quebec Canada , and right now it's 11 AM...

BTW it rebooted fine...

I then rebooted in a standalone kernel and:

Code: Select all
root@fvdw-sta-kirkwood:/ # fsck -y /dev/sda7
fsck (busybox 1.21.0, 2013-02-04 10:48:06 GMT+1)
fsck: can't read '/etc/fstab': No such file or directory
fsck: fsck.auto: No such file or directory

Do I need to mount the partition first?

Indeed the busybox applet fsck does not work and you need to load a static binary.

So do
Code: Select all
 busybox tftp -r e2fsck -l /sbin/e2fsck -g ip-pc
chmod a+x /sbin/e2fsck
(ip-pc is the ip of your laptop;

Then use e2fsck instead of fsck
