Photo/pictures web gallery = Piwigo installation possible?

Postby raidsm » Thu Dec 15, 2016 5:30 pm

Hi!

is someone knows or had try to install Piwigo on their nas? I'm interested in a photo web browser and this one seems great.

edit: needed: imagemagick or GD. What are those?

http://fr.piwigo.org/basics/installation_manual

If you have comments or tricks let me know!

edit: I think I need this: https://www.imagemagick.org/script/install-source.php. It says I need to compile it. Can I do this myself? it dosn't seem difficule.. ex: copy file on the root , start the needed command "make..." and it shoul be installed?

Hi raidsm,

gd is already available with the web server.
So you should not need to install additional things. I assume GD is required to build the thumbnails

I already posted several how to install some web features with the web server provided by fvdw-sl.

I advice also to set the "high" level on the option "memory size allocated to the Web server". Indeed build thumbnail uses a large part of the memory as jpeg files is decompressed before building it.

So just follow them to install your app.

Hi Jocko!

I successfully installed Piwigo and it took me about 30 minutes on the NAS but ohhh boy, too slow to be usable unfortunately.

It was real easy with the script included on their web page.

Thanks a lot but the NS2 is surely only powerful enough for file transfer and light web page.

Yes raidsm

it is why I wrote in a previous topic
pydio, elfinder webexplorer, ... are only applications that bring nothing more except to slow speed transfer

We have a small cpu

With webdav, the cosmetic frame is on the user side and so does not use NAS resources (but you need to install a webdav client)

Yeah your right but sometime you just want to access your files from a remote computer and don't want to go into the assle of installing a webdav client or contacting like a remote share...

In the original Lacie firmware they use an old version of ajaxplorer with was perfect AND lightweight. Is there a way to use the same version as they did? The web explorer is a great feature but I understand your point.
