Kernel: Linux 4.6.6 #3 PREEMPT Sat Oct 15 12:48:17 CEST 2016
Caution: It is not the regular kernel version [3142#14]

Modules updated, too.

this message is normal, it is only to warn and remind you that a a non standard kernel is used.

Hi kicsrules

Please can you explain more what you did? Did you install install first the modules,...

Otherwise if it is only a kernel issue, you can temporarily recover an access on your NAS by loading the external kernel available with fvdw-sl console (in the subfolder tftp/firmware/kirkwood)

it´s working now, it took a while but its working, i flashed through the console, selected install firmware (extracted the zip), powered off the nas and then powered it on again, flashed via uboot (the black cmd window)... it blinked for almost half an hour and then i got access again, i don´t know if it got flashed correctly or not but transfer rate is around 36 mbps (from the 18 that i had before)..

What porridge...
You are lucky you did not have bricked your NAS!!!
kicsrules wrote:selected install firmware
to install a new kernel is absolutely useless(just follow these instructions viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2345&p=21296#p21296)

This is again absolutely useless and can brick your NAS definitively :whistle (Please do not flash your uboot anymore!)

Can you post this output
Code: Select all
uname -a
(from a ssh window and not by using fvdw-sl console)

With this last value, it confims me you should have yet a better speed transfer => there is some thing on your LAN which limits it (and it is not the NAS)

I think he didn't write a new uboot to flash. I think he just has installed the firmware again and formatting a 2TB disk takes some time. So he is probably also not running the 4.6.6 kernel.

Or he did not read the instruction for installing the kernel or he did not understand it :disapprove

To me that is no surprise that this happened.
You have to write exactly the command lines (for the SSH shell) to help normal users.

What I did:
unzipped the kernel 4.6.6 file
Opened a putty shell
Login (root, giveit2me)
1. untar the modules 4.6.6 to the right folders
2. check if the modules are really available
3. use dd command to write kernel 4.6.6. file to SDA6

Reboot.
