Blackout and NAS sda1 not booting

Blackout and NAS sda1 not booting

Postby Acquarious81 » Thu Oct 13, 2016 2:05 pm

Hi,
yesterday there was a blackout with 3 on/off... in that time i was logged in my nas with an ssh connection, after that i can't reach my nas from net...

go to take it and i see it don't boot... logged in by consolle stand alone kerner.. i change the sda1boot file from sda7 partition to sda2boot...
the nas booting right in old firmware... and all goes perfect..

now i want to know how fix the sda1 partition... the strange thing is sda1 boot.log isn't create.... there was a 40 days old log.. i've deleted this and i've tried to reboot the nas by sda1 partition.. but the blue led blink only 3 time and no boot.log is created...

where i can look for find the corrupt file*?...

thx

Hi Acquarious81,

This should be done only after checking which version is installed on the unused partition. For example if you had version 14.0 or 14.1 on sda2 your NAS would not boot as version 14.x fails to parse the nas database updated by version 15.0 and upper.

Otherwise, I do not think it is a corrupted file as if it was the case a boot.log file would be at least created. My opinion, it is the power failure has corrupted the fs on sda1.

So
Post the output
Code: Select all
file -bs /dev/sda1
If it detects a ext3 partition try to mount sda1
Code: Select all
mkdir /tmp/sda1
mount /dev/sda1

if it fails post also these outputs
Code: Select all
dmesg
dumpe2fs /dev/sda1 | grep -i superblock

And we will try to repair fs on sda1
