16.0 or 16.0 install successfull but Lacie OS always present

Postby h.ancher » Wed Mar 16, 2016 2:56 pm

Hello,

I experience an special issue, I try several time to install the firmware 16.0, always successful, but after the reboot (reboot -f) my NAS 5Big v2 reboot under Lacie OS !?

I download the version 16.1 with the Console 6.0, install successful, reboot and same behaviour.

So I try to delete the partition on sda and sdb, try to reinstall again, all is fine, reboot under Lacie OS... :fuming

Maybe I miss something.
I don't flash the U-boot, because I read in the tutorial that it don't needed.

I think my NAS continue to boot under Lacie because this firware is not on the harddrive but in the ROM, doesn't it ?

What you suggest me to do ?

Regards.

did you put only 1 disk in in the most lefthand slot (seen from back) ? (so the remaining 4 slots empty.)

Only after installing the fvdw-sl firmware on that disk and successful boot you should add more disks.
It would be a good idea to delete all partitions on the old disks

And no the lacie firmware doesn't run from flash. It runs from HDD...but if you have a 5big2 that was sold as diskless version then it has a mechanism that can install lacie firmware from flash. But it only will do that if the disks are empty and have no partition table on them and following a special procedure.
