With this version you should find on sda5 a log of your previous install attempt.

Then still on the telnet window do:
Code: Select all
mkdir /sda5
mount /dev/sda5 /sda5

post the output of
Code: Select all
ls /sda5
cat /sda5/installer.log

Maybe I understand what happens.

Can you post
Code: Select all
cat /proc/partitions
ls -l /dev/sda*

Nope, it is ok on this side. :scratch

So try to reproduce the error:
Code: Select all
ls -l /sda5/fvdw-sl-16-1-base-9feb16.img
dd if=/sda5/fvdw-sl-16-1-base-9feb16.img of=/dev/sda7

if it fails try on another partition (sda1 or sda2)
Code: Select all
dd if=/sda5/fvdw-sl-16-1-base-9feb16.img of=/dev/sda1

Note: please thank to use the BBcode 'code' when you copy some data on your post. it is more easy to read them!

So there is some thing wrong on sda7.

before installing fvdw-sl firmware, did you have issues with lacie firmware and/or is it a new disk ?

Ok will use th BBcode, yes i had problems with the lacie firm, the drive was not showing on network and the blue led was keep flashing, then i decided to format the disk and start from scratch, actually i did not format it i deleted all the partitions.

So maybe you have a bad disk (at least it should have some bad blocks)

You should extract it and from a laptop you may use manufactor's tool to check its health (SMART tool)
