Which username did you use to log in? So to see you logged in via the user console, read the help file that comes with the user console settings menu... ;)

As I do not have a mac I cannot create files or folders on the stick, I just made a standard ntfs partition and converted that to hfsplus. But I think it will depend on permissions set for subfolders. For instance I can view the content of subfolder systemvolume..when using linux command line, but not via the samba server, it then give the message you don't have permission.

I used my normal user...no root. Why should it be different on that address?

If you use your normal username then you get the "user console web interface"

If you use as login name "admin-nas" without the quotes and the administrator password then you get the full web interface.

The user console web interface is a minimal web interface that enables user of of the nas see some basic information without the possibility to change nas settings.

Again read the help files (please, they ar there for nothing). The user console setup is a submenu of user account menu, there you can set who has access, probably you already used it otherwise it could not be accessed

this is the help text
help for user account menu

To authorize an user to login into the user console, click on the related checkbox and make a submit (accept button) to save your changes.

The available features are:

View system information (user accounts are hidden)
Backup menu: can mount/unmount his own remote shares or a remote rsync volumes but can not use cron to backup his data.
Only the shares with at least Read-only permissions can be used as source and full permissions as destination
Wget menu
Httrack menu
