Hi both,
Please to remember that fvdw made fvdw-sl console not to give a full system on the nas but only to give a system allowing to install the firmware or debugging the nas. So it contains only the required features to do that and I don't think he wants to spend time to anecdotal needs.
Otherwise, ssh is not provided by dropbear and the ssh client with dropbear is dbclient and you should replace ssh by it but be careful it does not have the same options.
Last point, if really you want a dropbear server running with the standalone version, you can use the trick already given by mijzelf:http://plugout.net/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=2209&start=130#p18793 which allows to provide the missing commands not available with the standalone kernel (for example binaries without the size limit: cp,...)
@Mijzelf,
Up to now, we have always seen that write/read speed are significantly less when a Lacie CPU had to either compress or encrypt data. So in my opinion, use a ssh access instead of a telnet access on a LAN in this context is not a good idea.
