ftp & transmission

Postby lintner » Fri Apr 24, 2015 8:38 am

Hello ! after having installed this great software (16.0) on my lacie 3TB cloudbox, I have now run into some problems ...

FTP-server worked right out of the box, but now it is disabled and I don't know how to enable itagain, in system information it says disabled but will start with next booting, but after having tried rebooting the device 10 times it is still in disabled and saying will start with next boot ... what can I do to enable the ftp server ?

Transmission ... says in system information running and will run at next booting, but it doesn't do that, however, if i manually stop server and start it it works, but after reboot it doesn't, how can I fix this ?

thanks in advance from a swedish newbie :hammerhead

Update in this matter ...

When i reinstall transmission client then the FTP-server imidiatly works (without restart), but when I reboot the cloudbox, it is as before, the FTP-server doesn't work, and it says it will work with next reboot (but that doesn't work either). So it seems the only way to be able to have both ftp and transmission is to first reinstall transmission client and then hope that the cloudbox never goes down :scratch

Hi Lintner,

First for clarity, it is logical when you install transmission that the firmware tries to restart the FTP server because you create two shares to transmission and then need to update the FTP settings if it is running (or should be running)

but now it is disabled and I don't know how to enable it again, in system information it says disabled but will start with next booting
You get this behaviour because there is a fatal error with the settings when you enable it. So the firmware will try again to start it at the next booting.

If there is an issue with the FTP settings that stops the FTP server when you enable it, disable-enable again will occur the same behaviour.

But maybe you did not note that there is a known bug with FTP server and version 16.0. You need to install this patch viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2033#p17004

Note: I advise you to install all patches for version 16.0, in their time-stamp order
