It seems to me something is wrong in your connection, do you use a wireless connection between the PC where you run the fvdw-sl console and the LAN ?

If so then is probably the cause of the problem. Use a wired connection.
It is a know issue that a wireless connection is not handled well by the tftp server

No, the conesion is wired and both the 5big as the computer connected to the same swich, the problem seems to occur when uploading the firmnware the 5big but it's just an impression I can help with some indication to figure out which is the cause.

the funny output you posted, do you use another telnet client then provided with fvdw-sl console.

If the error is as you described then it seems it did not find the firmware in the upload directory of the the tftp server running on your PC

That is confirmed by this line of output in your post
Code: Select all
Transfer of kernel from tftp server failed

Do you have in the tftp folder of the fvdw-sl console a subfolder with name nwsp2 ?

think you did something wrong in this part of the first time install instruction

(a.1) install the first time install package in the fvdw-sl console.

After installing the fvdw-sl console, make a folder with name 5big1 in the tftp sub folder of the fvdw-sl console.
The tftp folder is a subfolder in the directory where you installed the fvdw-sl console,
Put the attached rar archive containing the 5big1 first install package in that 5big1 folder and extract the archive inside this folder.
In the tftp subfolder you have now two folders, one with name nwsp2 and one with 5big1
To be able to use the fvdw-sl console for installation we are going to pretend that we have a nwsp2.
For this reason we are going to rename the subfolders with name nwsp2 and 5big1 in the tftp subfolder.
Rename the one with name nwsp2 to nwsp2-org and rename the one with name 5big1 to nwsp2.

thank you very much for the help received
I followed all the steps in the installation and firmware is located in the correct folder.
nevertheless installation ends in all cases with the same error
a maneuver that I can make in order to give more data and come to the solution of the problem with them?

You did not yet answer about this.

Please detail also in what environment do you use fvdw-sl (OS, virtual host,...)

indeed

some idea's
So you have in the tftp directory of the fvdw-sl console a subdirectory with name nwsp2 (renamed from 5big1 to nwsp2)
Please post what files are in this nwsp2 sub folder

Do not start the installer but give the command
(replace in this command ip-pc by the actual ip address of your PC running the fvdw-sl console)
Code: Select all
tftp -r nwsp2/KERNELVERSION -l KERNELVERSION -g ip-pc

Then if the file is uploaded give the command
Code: Select all
cat KERNELVERSION

Post the output of this command here.
It should give the name of the kernel that the installer tries to upload, a file with that name must be present in the nwsp2 sub folder

(Remark: The commands are case sensitive in Linux so type KERNELVERSION and not kernelversion)
