No root device, can't create share

Hello everyone!

I am having a big problem with my device and can't seem to get it to work. All of a sudden it failed to connect to network and i cannot see the admin or family folders no more. Is there a way to access the files and create a backup?

which firmware are you using, fvdw-sl or the original lacie ?

I had a similar problem, it was rendered completly dead, I had to make a manual reset with the reset button. It will wipe the device so that you have to go through the setup again, but it will put all the files that were on it in a special folder afterwards (\\LACIE-CLOUDBOX\Family\Recovery\) and then it will be possible to make backup from there.

I have tried the reset button couple of times and it still does not let me access my files. Are there any other specific instructions how to get this reset... I am holding the reset button for about 15 seconds.

Min shows the same after a normal shutdown. Ive tried recovery mode and also factory reset mode. On startup my mac does see the NAS drive as i get a growl popup of this. When i try to access it nothing works and through web access is get the admin page to make a new admin user. On progression i get this same error "No root device, cant create share".

Disk doesnt seem to make any beeping, ticking or un normal sound when i listen at startup.

How did you solve it or was it even saveable

No man i never got answer here. I brought it to local store and they connected my drive to external HD casing. They had linux software on their windows machine to read the disk.

This way i did got back my files, now its catching dust on a shelve. Eventually im trying to get a reader to see if i can reset the disk

Thanks fella - think I'll end up doing the same although I'll have a go st LaCie on the basis the reset has failed at the first hurdle on not fit for purpose - garbage !

the lacie firmware on the cloudbox is causing this. The hardware is ok.
To find the problem is not straight forward although there are some post on this on the forum.
As we do not use the lacie firmware ourselves we can only give some hints and suggestions to find and solve the proble with the lacie firmware.

You could consider to use our firmware instead.
As said the hardware of the cloudbox is not bad.
