Hi taetae,

Thank you to remind you that the firmware development is an hobby for fvdw and me. This activity should not become binding for us.

This LED issue does not prevent "normal operation" of your NAS. On your side you can not do much. I also noted an error in dmesg that could explain this behavior
Code: Select all
/etc/init.d/rcS: line 542: can't create /proc/resource_dump: Permission denied

Remember also, when previously I asked you to test some GPIO exports, you did not succeed.

So something to deepen but let us breathe a little before returning to this point. :whistle

I understand it and know it's just a hobby but a tester point out anything then with the time without problems .....

I only say what I know and see when I get the chance to stay close to Nas's all :-)

other thing that I think is not to be underestimated is the fact that if the LEDs operate as today also control the fan running at full speed and autonomously ...

Again, however, I write just because I try to test everything in the time I have available close to PCs

Thank you again for your progress and tomorrow I go back to work I will leave you in peace;-)
If you need me I'm here

/proc/resoure-dump is not used on the 5big1

the leds defintions can be found in
Code: Select all
/devices/platform/leds-gpio/leds/

these leds are defined in the kernel
"net5big:blink:front",
"net5big:red:front",
"net5big:blue:front",
"net5big:red:sata0",
"net5big:red:sata1",
"net5big:red:sata2",
"net5big:red:sata3",
"net5big:red:sata4",

each entry will have some files, one of them will be brightness
the leds can be controlled by sending 0 or a value uptil 255 to this file
for instance doing this should switch off the blue led on the front side
Code: Select all
echo 0 > /devices/platform/leds-gpio/leds/net5big:blue:front/brightness

Dear fvdw!

I have a 5big network v.1... The original LaCie Hard Drives are missing, it does not load the firmware. The same problem on which you worked with taetae. I read all the entries, but only a little speak in English and I do not understand everything. Can you write to me please, what I should do to working my NAS? Thank you very much!

I do not know. I do not understand it. Who would you recommend? I want to use the NAS, but I do not have an original LaCie hard drives. I read that the firmware is on the first hdd. I have 5 pieces of 500gb wd green, or 5 pieces of 2TB WD Green HDD.

I am not a fan of the lacie firmware, its the reason why we have build our own.

To install the lacie firmware or ours you only need at least one sata disk and maximum 5. The system disk should be smaller then 2 TB as the bootloader only support ms-dos table which means max disk size of 2 TB. The other disk can be bigger in case I use our firmware as the kernel supports bigger disks

if you wan to to install lacie firmware then I can help you as I do not have the required files. To install fvdw-sl we can help you, be aware that our firmware doesn't support raid on this moment. It will be added in on of the release in future
