If I understand well what you wrote...

Yes your smbfunc_conf_commit.finc does the same thing than my attached file.

So that confirms that the kernel sendfile support has some problems with your 5big1

So you must use the fvdw file.

In an explorer window, try to use the nas name even if you don't see : //nasme/Venere

if thats makes it work again then you can write the new kernel to disk
put it in the share with name public and write it to sda6
Code: Select all
dd if=/share/1000/public/UIMAGE-395-5BIG1-25 of=/dev/sda6

now the nas will use the new kernel automatically at boot

wait ... I'm not using the new kernel, but only the files you posted "smbfunc_conf_commit.finc"

testing them I'm doing with the old kernel

With your screen capture, you used directly the NAS name. So i assume that previously was only a dns cache issue on your PC.

well then sendfile is the problem, so we can use the old and new kernel. You could test if there is performance difference between the old and new kernel.
I expect only a minor difference, but it is worth checking so we can choose the most optimal kernel for speed.
