no nfs access after upgrade v14 -> v15

I tried to restart it via the web interface but it fails.

NFS is always marked in web interface as ON, but after disabling it I can never restart it

So need to deepen your issue.

I will send you on your pm a patch to easily start the debug mode and give you some instructions.

Thanks Jocko, here are the logs!

And it actually works now! I saw some error in the log that it couldn't write to /etc/exports, so I just renamed it and now it works!

The only difference I could see was that the old exports file had "root" as owner and the new one has "nobody" as owner:
Code: Select all
-rw-r--r--  1 nobody nobody     155 2013-11-24 22:11 exports
-rw-r--r--  1 root   root       155 2013-11-24 22:00 exports.bak

Does that mean anything to you?

Hi nerg,

Code: Select all
The only difference I could see was that the old exports file had "root" as owner and the new one has "nobody" as owner:

This means that your previous exports files (with owner root) has been created during the boot and the owner of the new file is nobody because it is created via the web-interface.
The file's permission should be 666 and not 644. Need to search how this can happen. :scratch
So it's a bug, need to change how the function nfsfunc_write_exports tries to open exports file.

I will post a patch tomorrow

Hi nerg,

attached a patch to fix the nfs exports file bug.
Install the patch by using the 'upload patch' menu with the usual control code 'unzip'

To test if the bug is really resolved :
- set the nfs server as starting at boot
- reboot your NAS
Then the nfs server must be running and so try this :
- stop the server and try to restart it by using the web-interface.

The bug is fixed if the nfs server is again available

if it's ok I will post the patch on the "Firmware and Howto guides downloads" forum

Jocko,

Sorry for the delay!
It works fine now, and I can finally run Raspbmc over NFS again!

Thank you very much for all the help!!

By the way, the patch you sent didn't install via the web interface so I manually copied the finc file included in the .tar.

Hi nerg,

Thank for the feedback.

Indeed, I made an error about an install file.

Now I go to post an updated patch file on the forum "Firmware and Howto guides downloads"
