Uiiiiihh, I got one. And I'm happy that it's a "classic" one with a 2TB Seagate. This is the amount of capacity I exactly wanted to buy.
As it is used I first updated the HDD firmware from CC34 to CC35. Now it is very quiet and still working properly ;)
Then I deep dived into the preparations to enable the "extended fvdw" firmware. I have to admit... a little nightmare for a Windows user. Command lines, case sensitive order lines ...etc, etc.
So I firstly burned an UNBUTU DVD Linux, searched a big 8GB USB stick to save the original Lacie files - who knows .... and my internal HDDs were disconnected to be save ;) and to avoid any mixes of partition names.
So I printed the fvdw installation guide and booted the Linux. All went fine (after the second try as I overread one exact syntax during first try). Keep in mind if the HDD is the only one in the system the right drive name is /dev/sda iso. /dev/sdb.
For unexperienced users I believe the process is simply overdone, not possible. I would not recommend to do this although it is described step-by-step. At least ask for a Linix experienced friend.
In the meantime FW 12.0 incl the ITunes patch is running. The speed is not comparable to the SPD8020. Much much faster !
Big big thanks to this migration and guide to this fantastic piece of software !!
