first sequence boot issue after installation

I check the permission and ownership of the files in the sda5 tar ball, they are not correct.
In principle this should be no problem as most of them are reset during boot, but maybe I overlooked one.
I updated the the autoinstall package in the download section with the an updated sd5 tar ball with permission set as they should be

please retry it if now the second boot is no longer necessary

ps I changed the name of the package by adding an "a" at the end of the name to be able to distinguish the different packages. The file names inside the packages are the same

I attached the new tar ball also to this post

sda5-lacie-nwsp1.tar-new.zip

Jocko, can you remember if this also happens with the manual method ? (I know it is a lot of testing)

Fvdw,

I did a manual install and I got the same result. So the problem is not to this side.
It's incomprehensible ...

For the rest of weekend, I am not available

I found the problem
sda8 is not defined as dev node in the standard file system, for that reason first time attempt to mount sda8 fails as it cannot find it.
The last node defined is sda7.
There is function that creates the sda8 node later in the firmware therefor it is find at second boot.
I will add it in the standard image and post it when ready for testing

In computing, there is always an explanation at all: the only problem is to find...

I will add udevstart command in the main boot script that should prevent us from this kind of issues. I did in my test with the nwsp2 and now directly at first boot the sda8 partition is mounted. I will update the nwsp1/spd8020 image with this so you can try it

the file for the auto install script on nwsp1 is updated, it has name fvdw-sl-8-1-beta1-12jul2011.zip
Beside the fix for two times boot also thebug rleated to not being able to change date and time manual is fixed.

@langerak, Jock please test it

Hi Fvdw,

I tested your last package (firm v8.1) and the result is Ok : sda8 is mounted and no second boot is required ... :)

So the bug is fixed :D
