best to test it in u-boot console
Code: Select all
setenv bootargs console=ttyS0,115200 netconsole=6666@${ipaddr}/,6666@${serverip}/
ide reset
tftpboot 0x800000 UIMAGE-3142-KIRKWOOD-160-standalone
bootm

If the kernel output comes and is ok you should be able to login with telnet

160 loaded but no telnet connection
i proceed with 161

It was having same output of 159 so i didnt post it (also I was looking your posts were u said that most likely 160 werent working... so I didnt pay so much attention to it. tell me if i have to repeat the test aand share the command outputs)

i am not making same mistake for 161. (but no telnet connection anyway...)
PAY ATTENTION: all tests i'm making are with both SATA disks inside! and both seagate (as the original ones)

HERE IS THE OUTPUT OF 161:

Code: Select all

provided by fvdw
waiting for u-boot..
starting u-boot net console click on window and press enter

no need to do retest with kernel 160, kernel 161 has same setup for ethernet

Do the disks powerup when starting kernel 161 ?

Yes they always spin and both leds are solid blue.
The only blinking is the blue front biiiiiiig one ;)

Dumb question: what if the sata interface is broken? Can it be with those outputs?

mmm...in uboot console you could test the stata interface by given command
Code: Select all
ide partinfo

probably still something wrong in ethernet setup of 3.14.2 kernel :scratch

When? Just after uboot? After ide reset?
I must do that tomorrow though. I have a child in the other room that wants his dad ;)

yes in uboot console after ide reset

I also go to bed here, tomorrow another day. Alternatively if e can not get the standard kernel working we could proceed with trying to make a device tree firmware kernel as done with 4.2.3
