Postby netokarys » Thu Aug 27, 2015 6:57 pm

Hello,

i have nwsp2 with 2TB HDD wich was running fvdw-sl firmware until it (HDD) broke down. Now i replaced it with new one, did all by instructions (partitioning, etc.), and now i can't find it on network (network assistant can't find it). In boot.log there is one line * Configuring LAN interface... cannot start udhcpc process. . Is this might be a problem?
There is all boot.log

I also forgot to say that my nwsp2 is lite (at least it looks like. I checked photos in the post about classic and lite versions)

Re: Can't find nwsp2 on lan

Postby fvdw » Sat Aug 29, 2015 3:53 pm

well this device is clearly a classic and not a lite.
It reports 256 MB mem, the lite has only 128 MB
Furthermore it seems you or someelse has already put the u-boot in flash. If it would have been a liet and you used that u-boot version it would have bricked your nas.

I see this in your post
*** fvdw-sl NAS firmware
This is fvdw-sl version: fvdw-sl 16.0
built on: Dec 28 2014

LAN IP address: (static)

It menas you have set a static ip address ??

Anyhow as you have serial console access it is easy to check things out.
Give command
Code: Select all
ifconfig eth0

to see what is going on with the etehernet interface. If it has no ip then set one
To set an ip fore for eaxample to 192.168.1.100 use
Code: Select all
ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.100

check again after giving this command if the interface has an ip, if so you should be able to login using this ip

Hello, i got this:

ifconfig: eth0: error fetching interface information: Device not found
~ # ifconfig eth0 192.168.0.152
ifconfig: SIOCSIFADDR: No such device
~ #

i also take a photo of my board (please see attachment).

It is lite version, if photos in post about lite and classic versions is true...

The picture you post is from a nwsp2 lite, however the output of dmesg and serial console you posted shows output of a nwsp2 classic

what does this command give as output
Code: Select all
cat /proc/cpuinfo

(ps if ifconfig eth0 doesn't find your ethernet card I am afraid that it is broken

It should look something like this
Code: Select all
root@nwsp2-3:/ # ifconfig eth0
eth0      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:D0:4B:8F:51:26
          inet addr:192.168.1.200  Bcast:192.168.1.255  Mask:255.255.255.0
          inet6 addr: fe80::2d0:4bff:fe8f:5126/64 Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST  MTU:1500  Metric:1
          RX packets:2527457 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:2095485 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
          RX bytes:1110840524 (1.0 GiB)  TX bytes:410943845 (391.9 MiB)
