Questions regarding installation of fvdw on Lacie CloudBox

I just copied the file manually for time being - no stress!

I have to say that I was a bit afraid of installing this firmware (not being able to return to the official one).

While I have not tested it, the simple fact that subtitles are working, makes me really happy!

I hope that this will encourage other (unhappy) Lacie CloudBox owners.

Installation was fairly quick, too.

I'll be around!

:)

Two things:

1) It still says NAS : FVDWSL-BASE. Is this right? I was expecting somethiing like FVDWSL-CLOUDBOX
2) The Upgrade menu is missiing again. No big deal, I can transfer the file (manually) again. Will it survive a reboot?
3) I am using 15-1, so there is probably still this error.

Anyway, thanks so far: SRT subtitles are now WORKING!!! :)

:punk glad to hear you got it working

You can change the name of the NAS yourself in the system menu

You can check after reboot if the the firmware menu is gone again then you need to transfer it once more or wait for the patch that Jocko is preparing

ad93)
you are probably right

nice to hear that SRT subtitles are working ! which media server did you use ?

I am using miniDLNA.

SRT subtitles are working with my LG 42LM650S SmartTV now.

Unfortunatly, no subtitles are being rendered on the PS3 and Xbox360. This is no problem for me, but I will try to figure it out later.

The main goal is achieved: now I can watch videos with subtitles on the TV with the PC turned off (it uses Serviio, which is great, btw.).

I'm off ot bed now.

Again thanks for the support and help!

Regards,
vma

Yes, here the full instruction to install the path:

How install the patch :
- Save the zip file in the fvdw share
- Go to the upload patch menu of the web interface
- Select the file in the first field (click on the small button "...")
- Put in the second field (control code) the following code : "unzip" (without quotes)

Then Click on the Accept button and you must get this success message :
Ok: Install patch successful
