The board contains a DRAM chip (IC4=H5PS1G63EFR S6C 114V) like described in here http://www.google.nl/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=h5ps1g63efr-s6c&source=web&cd=3&ved=0CCUQFjAC&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hynix.com%2Finc%2FpdfDownload.jsp%3Fpath%3D%2Fdatasheet%2Fpdf%2Fdram%2FH5PS1G63EFR(Rev1.2).pdf&ei=CnO1Tq6BJIuQ4gSF4MXyAw&usg=AFQjCNEQRFMiwHATRB1FGILIiL1r0Zg7jw Hynix H5PS1G63EFR - 128 MB
Further more this board has some simularities with the one described here:http://crapnas.blogspot.com/
(processor/ram)

I will try your suggestion right away!

It boots! Finally some progress... Frustration was already getting at me.. ;-)
It does blink continuously, but I can get at the Web GUI with success.. dont need nfs for now..
Thanx mate. I'll patiently wait for your 'lite' release.

<edit>

I formatted the 2.5 Tb disk as well with the same uBoot... Works like a charm!
My findings:
- No NFS
- Connecting USB disks does not function

At least now I have most of the disk space available:

ok nice that it is finally working Mike and that we found the root cause of this problem.
Lacie could have put something on it to see the difference.
I will try to make the new kernel the coming week, but this sometimes takes more time and effort when unexpected roadblocks come up during the process.
In any case if we succeed we can add another lacie device to the list of supported devices

Good news Mike, I succeeded to compile a kernel for this nwsp2-lite device. Need to do some fine tuning.
This will also enable you to connect usb disks to the fornt side usb connector and in future also using the back side port usb to connect the NAS to a PC. Also the blinking will be solved.
It will be a 2.6.39.4 kernel (the latest one available) :ugeek:

I had a problem to install the firmware 10 :
I used Ubuntu 11.04 to partitione my hard disk but fdisk can't to this
So the solution is to use Knoppix to partitione and ubuntu to follow the next steps of the "how to install"
And now it works like a charm

I just have one problem about the transfert rates only 10mb/s with a 1Gbps or wifi N connexion. Do you know why?

PS : sorry for my english

Dsome more info would be nice
Is you nwsp2 a lite version ? or a normal version

In case it is the lite and you use it in combination witht the original kernel I can not tell if it is normal.
If it is a normal nwsp2 with our firmware then I can tell you I reach typycally 25-40 MByte/s using a gigabit LAN
of course all computers in the LAN and router and the switches must be capable to use gigabit connection.
If one is not then the speed will be lower.
Wifi connections will never reach what they promise, a N network should be able to reach 300 Mbits/s (about 30 MByte/s) but in practice it will be much lower because of disturbance in the transmission. if you reach 10 MB/s on a wifi network you are in good shape.
Also transferring many small files goes slower then transferring big files, this because of additional writing in disk adminstration for file headers etc.

Hey fvdw,

I was busy this weekend @work at some migration project. Didnt have time to look further into it.
The box runs... Would be nice though to have the fUSB working.
Any chance for a web based file explorer with abilities to move stuff around between disks locally on the box? I'll donate ;-)

Let me know if new firmware is available! Thanx for the effort.

Yes mikesmth, it is possible. On many websites, it is easy to find PHP codes for an explorer. We must just find a little time to adjust the code ...

If that is simple to do, this new feature is conceivable for version 11
