Unable to dectect nwsp2 on windows 7

Unable to dectect nwsp2 on windows 7

Postby WaReZ » Thu Jan 09, 2014 3:07 pm

Hello,

I've installed the firmware and it works perfecty, thanks for your work ! ;)

Now that is done, I need to move my previous data to the nwsp2 fast. I tried to plug the NAS to windows 7 with the ethernet port (it's faster than the router + wifi) but the nwsp2 is not recognized...
Maybe I miss something because with the lacie firmware, the nwsp2 was recognized directly.

the output of ipconfig with the nas plugged-in (in french, sorry):

Thanks in advance for your help and sorry for my pretty bad english :crazy. I'm exited to use it through NFS (I use linux and samba is realy realy slow... like 2,5 Mb/sec in best cases, that made video loading every time...)

ps : The backup of the sda8 partition failed during the installation with fvwl-sl-console (because sda8 image is bigger than the sda9 mount point). However, I did the backup with an usb key plugged on the nwsp2, mounted it, and send at the tftp server. It's maybe relevant with the issue pointed here : viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1271#p9040 So, it's not fixed ;p

[edit]

I've started the transfert through wifi until an answer but I've a weird transfert issue. The speed is 50Mb/sec, not so bad but the transfer made pauses every 15 seconds for 1 minutes. what happens?

There is no error because you can get access with this method !
nwsp2 is only available via your LAN!

Thanks for your answer.

Are you sure about that? I remember accessing my NAS like an USB disk with the ethernet port. Pretty sure about that. Anyway.

The transfert speed down to zero when a file come to 100%, each files in a directory transfered...

What do you think about the transfert issue ? Thanks

[edit]

It was with the usb at the back. My bad.

:disapprove
I remember accessing my NAS like an USB disk with the ethernet port

Not with an ethernet port but with an usb port !!! In this case by using the back USB port

You can enable this with usb-extras but only a free space of 1GB is available and first you must format it before and for 1GB this takes many time...

After you must also move your data in their real destination.

So it won't be an handy method :crazy and not fast...

About your transfert issue check your LAN.

Yes it's a bad value (if you have only a 100MB Lan you should have ~11/13MB/s

This is not really an issue with the NAS if you use the default settings but you must change the fillezilla settings to force it to use the active mode

Yes I use wireless connection in the both cases (PC and laptop). The NAS is plugged-in at 1 GBit/s (Full-Duplex) ethernet and the wireless is 11b/g/n radio mode. The active mode did it ! Good news :-D FTP is 2,7 MiB/s speed.

So tried trough wired connection :

scp : 3.5 MB/s
rsync and cifs mountpoint : 16MB/s
