I did just try installing logitech media server but it failed due to addons folder not found.

(1) buttons daemon
attached a trial version of buttons daemon for the cloudbox

unpack the zip file and put the file the shared folder "public"
Connect via ssh and copy it to /usr/sbin and make it executable

now start it up by using on the command line

It should mentions that it started and now it will wait for the back side button to be pressed
if pressed and hold for more then 1 second but less then 5 it should initiate a reboot
If pressed and hold for more then 5 seconds it should initiate a power off
It will display a message if it detects the action
If it works let me know then I can adapt the rcS file again to load it at boot


(2) buttons web interface for shutdown and reset
the following attached zip archive you contains patched files for the shutdown and restart buttons in the web interface
You must unpack the archive and copy the two files to /sbin and replace the ones that are present
They must be executable
I assume that by now you now the commands to use
The reset and shutdown buttons in the web interface should work ok after replacing these files
This is temporary fix in the next release I want to get rid of the different files for each platform, otherwise maintaining the firmware release becomes more difficult.

The button daemon worked as expected as did the buttons in the web interface.

I am going to start loading some files onto it now.

ok thats good news, I will sent you an updated boot script that will load the buttons daemon at boot

I put the updated boot script rcS into /etc/init.d and it appears to work as expected.

I only tried the shutdown option, held the button for >5 seconds and it shutdown.

I've managed to copy 40GB of photos onto the cloudbox without any issue. So all looking promising.

what about the behaviour of the led ?
What does it do, steady on, blinking with fixed interval or blinking with sata activity
Can you also switch it off (in the web interface there is an option to switch the led on or off

The led is blinking at a fixed interval and doesn't respond to SATA activity.

I also tried turning it off using the web interface, but as you probably can already guess this didn't work either.

Definitely need to do some of your magic before the led plays nicely!

you could have a look to folder /sys/class/leds

If you find a sym link something like this
"familybox:blue:sata"

follow it now you will see a directory listing several files like sata and trigger
giving on command line when being in this folder
so connect with putty and do cd to this folder
