I have network speed - max is 7-10MB/s on my win7 machine, connected with gigabit network... I am using version FW6.1. SPD8020 has originall build in disk of 500MB.... I can see on the switch that Philips has connected successfully to gigabit speed...

Would upgrade to v 10-1 improve network speed? What should I do to imprewe network speed?

Well, unfortunately, you already have the maximum speed with a SPD8020 :( (same thing with a NWSP vs1).

the Lacie network space 2 has a different processor then the spd8020 (800 mHz instead of 400 mHz) and it has much more RAM. As result download en upload speeds are higher.
Upgrading firmware on the spd8020 won't increase the speed, max you will get from spd8020 is around the numbers you mention
