Upgrade of Logitech Media Server

Hi fvdw,

Can you offer any guidance on upgrading the logitech media server? The 7.8 version we currently have is from May 2012. Unfortunately one of the plugins I use with logitech media server no longer works with this version of logitech media server.

The most recent version of logitech media server (http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.8) indicates that it will work with perl 5.14 which is the version on the fvdw firmware.

I had a look at your logitech media add on zip file and the latest logitech version (http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightl ... -linux.tgz) and can see they have similar structures, but quite a lot of differences in the CPAN folder, and also yours has a few extra folders too. I have a backup nwsp2 which I can happily run a test install. What would you recommend?

Regards

I believe our version is 7.8.0 and yes it is specially adapted to make it run is this kind of arm processor.
The versions that you can download from Logotech won't work properly.
I spend quite some time to get it working in 2012.

What is the plugin you want to use ? and which version of this erver do you need for it ?

I remember reading that you had quite a challenge getting it to work. The plugin I am trying to get to work is a Spotify plugin (Not the logitech one, but a third party one written by triode).

The latest versions of the Spotify plugin require ImageProxy which was added to Logitech Media Server about a year ago. https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver/commit/7478a0bf3ca76d59e3c9c36d2e538b13eedc4323

Logitech Media Server version 7.8 is a beta version (still) and I think there are only nightly builds available, so I am guessing I would want to grab the most recent version.

I appreciate that getting this running was quite a pain for you. I am keen user of LMS and quite happy to spend some time getting it to work if you can offer any guidance to get me going.

Hi rimoth,

So you have just to follow the related changes in your url :scratch (8 edited files and a new file).

if it works as you want to save these changes : create a new tar file slimserver.tar of the folder content: /share/1000/fvdw/addons/slimserver

I forgot to write that the owner of pm files must be 'nobody' (user/group) and permissions are 600

Thanks! This would have certainly caught me out.

I had a look at the files in git and it looks like there have been no other commits prior to 5th May 2012, the date of the version fvdw used. Hopefully should be straightforward - famous last words!!

I made a quick comparsion between our 7.8.0 and the latest 7.8.1 nightly build and there are many changes about 350 file and 7 new ones

I will put it on the to do list

patching 7.8.0 with the "ImageProxy" may be worth a try as well

attached a version you could try. the tar archive inside the rar archive must be put in the addons folder of the fvdw shared folder
remove the old slimserver folder first ! or rename it.
leftovers form previous version might cause problems
Then extract the tar archive. You should have now a new slimserver folder and you should be able to start using the webinterface
Be aware that when you start it first time it can take some time before the server will respond in the webinterface

--edit file removed
