Hi! Some general question + Wifi USB Realtek RTL8191S

Postby Msa-lacie » Sun Sep 29, 2013 12:41 pm

Hi, I'm new user, probably for my poor english, I don't comprend some things:

1 I have a lacie network space v2, ho I can identificate if is lite or normal?
2 I've downloaded your packages, firmware and console, and now?
3 how I do now? which option I'd to select on firmware console from action menu?
4 I want to add a wifi usb dongle, ho can add a module on your firmware?

Thanks

ad 1. viewtopic.php?f=11&t=213
ad 2/3. there is a help menu in the fvdw-sl conole for the action install firmware
ad4 no standard support for wifi dongles is implemented yet (too many different ones each needs its specific so it depends form which one you want to use)

Thanks for the prompt support!

now I have this problem, (I have Network Space V2 Classic), after from telnet console, start the ncurses interface, some problem appair about the partition:

Code: Select all
WARNING: rereading partition table failed, kernel still uses old table: Device or resource busy

There was an error deleting the partitioning scheme on /dev/sda.
Installer will exit

the disk is on sda, it is 1gb, I don't know if my Lacie support or no GPI table, but, I receive same problem, with both options.

some suggestion?

thanks

seems you are using the device , did you mount something before running the install script or did you run the installer script without removing the partition table ?
Try once more and just execute the installer script. Choose no GPT support, not needed for a 1TB disk

Ok thanks!

Now, I need to configure a wifi-dongle, is a Sitecom, WL-352 Wireless USB Micro Adapter 300N, based on chip Realtek RTL8191S.

I've found this informations about a debian module: https://wiki.debian.org/rtl819x

how you suggest to do?

I think that the linux 3.9.5 kernel that use supports this driver, I will need to compile some modules

it is supported but enabling it requires a complete kernel recompile. Not a big issue but it must wait some time as I want to change the setup of my compiler.
The new firmware uses glibc-2.17. All future kernels, applications I will compile against this glib version.
I trust you will have some patience

Thanks, very fast you support!

I can wait, but, if you want, I can help to compile, some times use Linux, and many times I've compiled the kernel.

Ciao!

check your pm box, I will sent you a kernel that should support your wireless usb dongle

Please test it and let us know if it works

I've see your message, (but, the replies are disabled?)

I had copied the image and rebooted, all works normaly, but, if I connect by ssh, I not have "lsusb" command to see the dongle.
