LaCie d2 Network 2

LaCie d2 Network 2

Postby Fille » Sun Dec 18, 2011 7:42 am

Dear,

Would the new 11-0 and later on firmware/linux OS be compatible with the LaCie d2 Network 2?

Is this device almost the same regarding used components on the PCB compared with the Nw Space 2?

Would the USB-B-port on the back also be usable to connect directly to a PC as planned in the future with your software version 11-0?

Thanks and greetings,

Filip.

p.s. Good work!

Hi Fille

well as I read it it a Marvell 88F6281 SoC with 256 MB ram, which is the same as the network space 2 (classic with 256 MB).
The 2.6.39.4 kernel I compiled supports the Lacied2 network 2, so I guess it should run on it, but I never tried it as I don't have one. Also I have modified the setup file in the kernel for the nwsp2 to get for example the back side usb port on the nwsp2 working. I did not do that for the d2 network 2 setup file. probably that need to be done to get the second usb port on the d2 network 2 working. There is also a eSata port in the d2 network 2, I did not check if that is supported in the vanilla kernel. So still some points to investigate.

The 2.6.39.4 kernel i compiled supports the back side usb port on the nwsp2, if I will be able to finish integration in the webinterface of the fvdw-sl 11-0 version will be dependent on if I have enough time. But it will be included in one of the future releases.
