D2 Network which firmware?

Hello everyone, I have a lacie d2 network 2 with a quadra esata connected. Both 2T.
I would like to put your firmware to have some more features. For example, is it possible to use disks in raid 1?
And how do I know if my d2 network is vs1 or vs2?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Aled72,

AFAIK, a 2dnw2 has 2 USB (A+B) and an esata port and a d2nw1 has only one USB port (A) and an esata port.

On d2nw2, esata should work with our firmware and yes you may build a raid1 but I have no idea what R/W performance you will get

Then I have a version two, with two us ports a+b.
The raid speed is not important because is only for secure data.

i will install your firmware because at the moment I can use the second disk (quadra esata) only as public share and is not useful for me.

Many thanks for help.

Hi Jocko, you say ".. should work with our firmware .."
Can you elaborate or provide link to the appropriate version.. I have d2 network V2K [U-Boot 1.1.4 (Dec 21 2009 - 16:55:45) Marvell version: 3.4.16 LaCie 1.3.9 ]
My d2 is stuck on dashboard screen after factory reset.. I have cloned the partition table to a new disk to tinker on.
I'm finding the info in this site to be difficult to follow.. some stuff requires windows :-). which is a PITA as it doesnt really have all the tools available (like linux)
Are there any pure linux guides??

Hi, it is possible to prepare a system disk under linux but because almost) nobody is using linux as OS we have not made a guide. Why is using windows a problem for you? The install under windows doesn't require any linux or other tools

Hi

You may use the manual tuto available in this topic : http://plugout.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=336 by assuming your d2nw2 is a nwsp2 (on old version the fw does not support fully d2nw2)
and then follow the topic to upgrade the firmware : https://plugout.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3059; on step 1, use the package for nwsp2.

And on next manual steps, you need a patch to install the upgrade package
