I did the first test with thisconfiguration. It gives me a failure when trying to install an externel USBHDD:
in /etc/.setup.fs/setupjob.log it says:

Erstellung reset.sh ist jetzt in Arbeit 
Vorgefundene Festplatte: sda(575842314134384C4E323534-0:0_WD_Elements_25A2) 
LÃ¶sche die Partitionstabelle auf sda: OK

Can you workout the german message?

Obviously it does not find the HDD although it shows up as inititable in the dialogue before.

what program do you use to setup he HDD ? :scratch

It is a message from the fvdw web interface when trying to initialise the hdd.

Meanwhile I did a step further. Plugged the hdd to the other bank of usb connectors (whitemarked).
There it works! Formatting is running.

I will continue reporting later but not today. My Wife has birthday today!

There are two types of usb connectors usb-2.0 and 3.0 maybe we miss the usb-3.0 driver, if I remember wel the white ones are usb-2.0

Hi Matzi,

This issue happens when the script tries to set the new partition table whereas the device is not yet linked up (After deleting the table the script links down the device and up again to update the sys environment)

So maybe on raspberry the delay is not enough according to the USB port used

But in the disks setup menue (Manage disks and volumes) they do not show up. Only one volume on SDcard is shown.

During the boot process some failure occur on the hdmi display but these are not in the bootlog file. Can I somehow log the complete boot process?

P.S. I use small usb disks with power supplyfrom usb. Not sure if it matters, just for information. I think there is no power issue because the web interface works fine.

P.P.S. Can I change thesystems name ? I have two system with the same Name now (fvdwsl-base). Win10 cannot differentiate that.

About system name , you can change it in the webinterface.
system mangement > Lan setup

the fvdw-sl boot scripts are logged in /boot.log but I guess you mean kernel boot.
The command

gives the kernel boot messages. If you want to view per page use

Code: Select all: dmesg | more

and use space bar to load new page

it means the hubs are recognized as well usb-2.0 as 3.0 and the corresponding drivers are loaded

I see the same output also in your case. Beside that it showed two disk

when I connect a usb disk to the white usb port I get this added

This means the kernel recognizes the disk and load the driver so far so good,usb 2.0 and 3.0 are working

Now web interface
With default settings nothing shows up in web interface only sd card.

When changing "switch usb mount mode" setting disk setup>external disk from mount all usb disk as externel disk to
"Advanced mode : Linux or FAT partition are mounted as internal partition"

An disconnecting the usb disk and reconnecting it again it shows up in as weel the disk setup menu and external disks window

Note that I used an exfat formatted disk and have installed also the exfat driver

It means we have a bug when mounting usb disk as external disks, when mounting as internal disk it seems to work ok

next add a second usb stick

However it doesn't show up in disk setup but it shows up in external disks (as sdb=internal but it is mounted as share = external)
So also here a bug although it could be because it is an ext2 partition, possible it this is a reason but then it should ti should not get an "sd" prefix but "se"
