I can not try because I had to leave for work in Milan as soon as I can I test

you can do the same management also led to the fan ?? post back we did a lot of testing and created everything but then at the interface to told to wait

Ok taetae,

About, fan control, fvdw and me don't understand what you want. :scratch
Currently, the fan control doesn't work nice on your big1? if no what is it wrong ?

I had trouble logging in to the house but it seems that I have solved the nas I started and I had no problems copying you place the log in a private ...
about the fan:
1 we have a script that manages its operation
2 commands to manage

but independence does not feel better or turn the fan will start and stop will start and stop in the loop, so was wondering if there was a way to manage it as we have done with a script that also led to the restart interlock keeps him at a speed regular fixed base, then such increase in temperature also increases the fan ...

and if possible through the web interface selector (you pick up this volume and Lower the front windows of the bar) where you can manually adjust the fan speed ....

of course it's just an idea

Hi taetae,

So you like to play with sliders. In next version, there is a new slider in the web interface...but only for 2big2 or 5big1 to handle the LED brightness. So not available with your 5big1 :razz2

If I understand well your suggestion, you'd rather this behaviour :
- manage in the web interface, a default fan speed and a daemon increases this fan speed if the disks temperature increases.
So the fan never stop :?: :disapprove
instead of the current behaviour:
- leave the system control the fan speed : fan don't run by default and if temperature is highest than 45°C start the fan. I am not sure because it is fvdw that deepened this feature but I think that the fan speed increases if the disks temperature doesn't decrease.

So need to talk with fvdw about it. No sure that this point will be available in version 16.0. I'd rather implement the RAID feature before.

2big1 fan

I did a test with the fan in my 2big1.

I used a hair dryer to bring some heat to the pcb. At a certain temperature the fan started to run. As I did this test with the first kernel built by FVDW I think the fan control is done by hardware.
Maybe it is possible to change this behavior by gpio programming.

Yes uelpenich,

There is a fan daemon written by fvdw: if the temperature is highest than 45°C the fan starts to run and the daemon stops it if the temperature is less
Code: Select all
Oct 22 10:58:15 (none) user.info fan-d: fan5big: temperature below limit(45) fan off, temp = 44

The daemon does this check every ten minutes.

It is why I asked taetae what is the fan issue on his side ?

If we want add some fan parameters in the web interface we need to rewrite the fan daemon :dry So need to evaluate that would be worth.

Currently , Disk temperature ever reached is 49 °C with my 5big2 :thumbup

the fan on the 5big1 should works as on 2big1 and , 2big2,5big2 start when the threshold is used and automatically speed up when temperature increase further while fan is running. The daemon is sufficient

There will be no manually settings in the web interface for fan control. Of course users are free to write an own custom script to fiddle around with the fan. Which i don't recommend. If you make an error and the fan doesn't work it can create big problems

I need to check which fan driver is in the 5big1 but if I remember well the same as in 5big2

ok then expect the new firmware and see if manually setting known differences;-)
