Maybe your download tar file is corrupted, on my side it works.

check the md5sum of your file
Code: Select all
root@Acrab:/tmp #  tar -xvf 5big1-3142-1.tar -C ./test
asix.ko
async_memcpy.ko
async_pq.ko
....

root@Acrab:/tmp # md5sum 5big1-3142-1.tar
74ef893c00f0a0763b77b5fb2614e12e  5big1-3142-1.tar

check that permission of (all) the modules is set to 755 (executable)

(I checked the file posted by jocko and it extracts just fine, did you make modifications to the firmware ?)

Code: Select all
dd if=/share/1000/fvdw/lib/modules/UIMAGE-3142-5big1-1 of=/dev/sda6

Code: Select all

About your raid5, we may use another way to create it.

Whereas to create a degraded raid5 (with a missing disk), you can try to create a raid5 with only 4 disks.
Then format the md device.

If it works I will explain you later how to add the 5th disk and resize the md device.

yes if the file UIMAGE-3142-5big1-1 is in the fvdw shared folder then your command is the correct one
