disk about to die ? need support for health check
Dear team,
I used to have my fvdwsl Lacie white casing running smoothly. Not so fast but enough for my personal usage and media library for Music and Videos.
Recently just before I had to move I noticed the hard drive made more stronger noise and repeateadly as if it tries to read some sector/section but fail.
Anyhow I plug it again after my moving.
What is strange is that it is still running but somehow I feel everything is very slow.
Although I was even with patience able to upgrade it to 18.3 version.
The noise et repeatedly is still there and of course not possible to keep like this on-line always.
I try now to backup/migrate the data to some other disk/area but it is very very slow and takes ages.
I on Mac environment (macOS Ventura 13.6.6) with SMB file share
I tried to mount the disk directly on the mac but it was not recognized which is strange although I though it was Linux partitions...
I tried to connect directly with ethernet cable to may be speed up the overall process but I was not able to reach the server.
Finally for now on the local network it is working and at least I can access my data.
also I can connect root directly on the server via terminal.
I would like your view and experience to check why I feel it is very slow, eventually how I can improve speed ?
Also what healthcheck I can do on the partitions to check they are ok ?
Also since I made many reboot lately even some hard shutdown I'm sure the system ran fsck at boot
Thank you for any advise.
