Please read again the topic you refered to, it mentions this
For all devices the procedure is the same, in the firmware upgrade menu of the fvdw-sl web interface click button "firmware upgrade via fvdw-sl server". (So you do not need to download the attached common package)

What you did is trying to install the roll up patch for 17-0 while still using 16-1 firmware. Of course you must first upgrade from 16-1 to 17-0. (See above remark how to do that) before installing the patch file for 17-0. :pound

For upgrading to version 18 read the related upgrade topic carefully, it contains all info you need to perform the upgrade ;)

if i try to upgrade via server it gives me an error.
=> Firmware upgrade step 1 started:
Search firmware version information for cloudbox ...
The latest version available from http://plugout.net is: fvdw-sl 18.2

Check free space on system partition ... OK
Get the bound upgrade files list
Failed to download the upgrade files list
Error 203

in the topic we mentioned before (https://plugout.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2679)
Important remarks:

- To be able to upgrade from version 16-1 to this version you need to install this patch first PATCH ENABLING INSTALL OF FVDW-SL-17-0

Maybe I have misinterpreted the post because I don't know English very well :scratch

Yes you need to install that patch (fvdw-sl-16.1-upgrade-patch-21dec2018.zip) first and you must fill your plugout credentials in system management>setup>firmware interface to be able to download files from our server

Hi artbol

Did you restart your nas after patching it ? (and also reload fully the interface ?)

Did you read this topic ? https://plugout.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3059 and note the step 5 : Make a manual upgrade and not an auto-upgrade (download package)

So you have to to download the package for version 17.0 and upgrade manually first to version 17.0 :shocked

ok sorry it was all my fault. :sob
I was trying to update via Upload Patch instead of via manual firmware update. :hammerhead

now i am on
Current Firmware Version : fvdw-sl 17.0 patched (cloudbox)
and I am trying to update via server but it gives me the following error
=> Firmware upgrade step 1 started:
Search firmware version information for cloudbox ...
The latest version available from http://plugout.net is: fvdw-sl 18.2

Check free space on system partition ... OK
Get the bound upgrade files list
Failed to download the upgrade files list
Error 203

just in case I have filled in my credentials again but it still does not work

Thank you very much for all the help received, I am very close now :hail

Jocko means the procedure described here https://plugout.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3059
You now need to perform step 6.
