Hello all. Im new here so sorry for my little knowledge and my English :)
My Cloudbox 3TB dead and i need Yours help. I read many topics and instructions but im not shure do I do it well and do not want to lose another drive or Lacie casing.
When I got back from vacation and started, my disk turned red ... I tried to recover the data and did everything according to the instructions but still the LED is on red and my data is already lost because it only recovers the parts of the video that were there :( (I try recover it in many programs on Windows and Ubuntu console)

Old disk has a lot of bad sectors and i want to change it to WD RED 4TB but i have some questions ...

1. Do I have to create a partition on this drive or it must be clean?
2. Do I use a good version console?
3. How to check the case is good, everything works as well?

I use fvdw-sl-console 6-17-0-5 to a new hard drive and I have a problem when typing a password.
I choice UIMAGE-3142-KIRKWOOD-158-standalone and all work but when i want login have this:

I see login screen and I typing... Login: root (klick enter)
And i can't type the password (giveit2me) The keyboard does not work
... is that normal? What am i doing wrong?

Sorry for my English, and please help me

Thank You very much . I had to run the installation manually, but everything worked fine.

I have one more request. This disk was used to store movies and music. How to run DLNA function because my TV does not see the disk now.

Hi diablo8411,

You need to start a dlna server on the NAS (no one is running by default). You can use minidlna; twonky or mediatomb (or logitech but I think it uses too much resource). Their menu is available from media servers tab.

For a first try I advice to use minidlna of course you need to configure it (select what shares /folders minidlna must scan)

Thank you very much. New disk works very well.

Is there any way to try to recover data from the old one? I accidentally pressed recovery mode twice and lost everything.
but all time after a few minutes the red LED lights up so i think this disk is dead.
The program I used found a lot of files but none exceeded 4GB. The videos on this disk have min. 4-5GB, so they found only their fragments. There are many programs and music but find only little music :(

The cloudbox uses raid setup of the data partition. You need to assemble the raid array first to able to retrieve the files. There are several topics describing how it can be done but it is not easy.

At least you need a pc running linux or alternatively use our standalone kernel and put the disk in the cloudbox.
