I successfully installed the ownCloud plugin on the lacie cloudbox running the fvdw 17 firmware. However the fvdw plugin comes with the ownCloud version 6 and if I try to update it via its web interface I get this message:

Upgrade is not possible. Make sure that your webserver has write access to the following files and directories:

/share/1000/fvdw/addons/owncloud/.htaccess

Is it meant to be like so that we can't update it or is there a fix I should apply?

Indeed you can not use auto-update feature and the issue is not on the htacess file.

On next month I go to update our owncloud package.
