New Cloudbox 2TB powers off during boot

Hello fellows! This is my first post here.

A while ago I ordered this white model - when trying to start it for the first time, I got the blue blinking lights, and after a while (~15 seconds) it just powered off. Retrials lead to the same result, sometime I got it not poweroff, but enter a permanent red state.

So I sent it back and forgot about it. But now they delivered a second unit (despite I didn't want to), so I thought let's try again. Exact same results.

After some Googling, I tried a different power adapter (of same specs), no change in results.

Then I became curious, and removed the white case (had to pull the case on the LED-side a bit, and the content fell out easily). Interestingly, the drive warranty seal, covering one of the drive screws, was broken - maybe they tried to replace just the hard drive, and shipped me back the same unit? Not sure.

Anyway, I removed the hard drive, put it in a USB closure and hooked up to my Linux. smartctl says everything is OK, and I can see the partitions/contents.

Now, the question is, what should I do? I could try downloading the firmware from this forum (didn't yet look into it), but if there's a fault with the device itself (not the drive), I might be wasting time. Is there an easy way to verify the thing works? Or could one find some debug logs on the drive that might point to the reason of failure?

Thank you!

Gave the firmware a go using the fvdw-sl-console, works like a charm! Not sure what was the problem with the original.

Just a note: when selecting kermel, I also got "File not in tftp directory, abort" and "standalone function returned false", the solution is to click 'TFTP directory' before selecting an operation, and leave the same dir selected - this changed the c: in the path to C: - maybe the directory containment test is case-sensitive?

Otherwise the process really works! Thank you!
